Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi returned to training with Turkish side, Trabzonspor, on Thursday morning after spending time on the sidelines due to injury, Completesports.com reports.
He has missed Trabzonspor’s last six games in all competitions as a result of injury.
Trabzonspor provided an update on the former Chelsea midfielder’s fitness and that of his former Nigeria teammate, Ogenyi Onazi on their website.
“Mikel, Caleb Ekuban and Ogenyi Onazi continued their work with a special training at Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities today. The players are being closely monitored by the physiotherapist and team doctor,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Mikel, 32, is expected to be available for Trabzonspor’s next league match against Ankaragucu on Saturday, November 23.
He has made six league appearances for the club this season.
