Seven alleged members of cults have been detained by the police in Edo State.
The arrest was verified in a statement by ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, deputy public relations officer.
Andrew Owhoyavwosa, 22, Joseph Meshak, 25, Osazee Solomon, 35, Godswill Obasohan, 25, Charles Odiase, 52, and Okoh Peter, 68 are the claimed members of the Eiye and Aiye cults.
According to the spokeswoman, they were detained by the Ekiadolor sector in the Ekowe neighborhood.
At Igbe Road in the Auchi Etsako West Local Government Area, the seventh person was taken into custody.
On July 2, according to the police, the suspects fled the area of their illegal assembly after spotting agents.
Iwegbu revealed that the police pursued, caught up with, and detained them.
Two locally made single barrel guns, one locally cut to size single barrel gun and 30 live cartridges were recovered.
Others were first aid box, kolanuts, eggs, cowries, one dead chicken, seven handsets and N30,000.
