#COVID19 Forces Record 6.6m Americans To File For Unemployment Benefits

Last week more than 6.6million people in the US sought jobless aid as the coronavirus pandemic worsens for he country, doubling the recent record of 3.3 million from the week before.

Policy Editor, Lewis Goodall, in a series of tweets via his twitter handle said in other words, 3% of the US population has registered for Unemployment benefit in a fortnight.

6.5% of the US workforce has registered for unemployment benefit over the last few weeks. Looks like unemployment running at 10% minimum. Speed is breathtaking.

The United States – the world’s hardest-hit country – has recorded more than 5,600 coronavirus deaths, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University. It has confirmed more than 236,000 cases of the disease.
