Premier League stars are set to revolt over concerns a fixture pile-up will leave them burnt out following the coronavirus outbreak.

Players fear the top flight’s chiefs are determined to finish the season in the summer and then rush headlong into the 2020-21 campaign.

And according to SunSport, England players have discussed seeking help from their union, the PFA, to ensure there is a proper break between seasons.

The coronavirus crisis has left English professional football in lockdown until April 30 at the earliest.

And it is believed some of Gareth Southgate’s squad have voiced worries they could end up playing for 14 months without a proper break — up to and including the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament.

There are plans in place to finish the season by July 12 — the original date for the Euro 2020 final at Wembley — and start the new campaign on August 8.

That has raised concerns that the number of injuries could rise and the quality of the football fall.

On a wider level, FIFA, UEFA and the EFL have also been continuing discussions over how long to delay playing.
Euro 2020 and next summer’s Copa America have been delayed a year, while FIFA’s Club World Cup is on hold.
