Last month, Basketmouth announced that he will be releasing his first feature film, The Exorcism of Alu — a project we patiently await, as we are keen to see how the beloved comedian handles this new creative exploit.
In an unexpected move, the multi-hyphenate has now treated us to another creative venture of his, releasing an impressive single: “Dia Fada” featuring Sound Sultan and Item 7.
“Dia Fada” boasts a strong yet simple beat, it’s production credited to the talented Orbeat. Basketmouth, who refers to his artist self as Bad Man Bob, shines on the song, with his opening verse stealing the show as the track’s strongest element.
On “Dia Fada”, Basketmouth questions any naysayers who suggest that he won’t amount to much in life, dishing out the popular Nigerian retort to any insult, “Dia Fada” — extending his back-to-sender wishes to everyone these haters know.
On the verses that follow Bad Man Bob’s, Sound Sultan and Item 7 sing of the struggles they faced back in the day. They judge all those who line up to enjoy life with them now, despite being ostentatiously absent during their difficult times.
Basketmouth is really on a mission to flaunt his creativity, as he also directs this music video, depicting serious-faced men around Lagos, mouthing the aggressive lyrics to Basketmouth’s hook, or staring intimidatingly into the camera.
