In an interview with The Native last year, Davido revealed that he doesn’t want to be actively making music in the next five years. While we all wondered what he planned to do next, it seems as though he’ll be penetrating the political world, which he just revealed in an interview with Channel 4.
It’s no secret that Davido is one of the most influential musicians we have today, and he definitely uses his voice in more ways than one. A few months ago, the afropop star played a very active role in rallying votes and campaigning for his uncle’s governorship run in Osun.
Since then, he has been vocal about the state of affairs in Nigerian politics and has even started a non-partisan campaigning organisation, ‘Defend Your Vote’ — which urges people to ensure that their votes are counted after the elections to ensure free and fair voting.
In the interview, he didn’t reveal his exact political plans for the future, however, he very firmly said that he will be involved. Hopefully, if he eventually participates, he won’t follow in the negligent footsteps of his predecessors, and will actually strive to make the country better.
