Recently appearing on The Lion King: The Gift, Tekno has been doing a solid job of spreading his talent to the world. Just weeks after his performance on the abum, Tekno now shares his production skills with Swae Lee and Drake on their new single, “Won’t Be Late”.
Co-produced by Tekno and Mike WiLL Made-It (Ciara’s “Body Party”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble”), “Won’t Be Late” opens like a typical mid-tempo afropop number, with familiar chord progressions, percussive styles and saxophone notes.
As well as production credits, Tekno also gets writing credits on the catchy song. His contribution can clearly be heard on Drake’s verse, with lines like “Ikebe, pressing on me heavy” and “Bakasi, moving on me wassy”.
“Won’t Be Late” is a solid offering from Swae Lee and Drake. We’re really happy to see Tekno’s production being appreciated on the global stage, and even more elated that we can actually hear his effect on this track.
