Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Yemi Olanrewaju as their substantive head coach.

The unveiling and contract signing ceremony marks the start of Olanrewaju’s reign in charge of the People’s Elephant.

The 32-year-old previously worked as an assistant coach to erstwhile handler of the team, Finidi George.

Olanrewaju took charge of the two-time African champions on interim basis towards the end of last season.

The young tactician turned down the chance to work with Finidi at another NPFL side, Rivers United to remain with Enyimba.

He joined Enyimba in 2022 and played a key role in their title success in his first season at the club.

Olanrewaju previously worked with MFM, Vandrezzer and Nigeria’s U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets.

Enyimba will take on NPFL new boys Beyond Limits Academy in their opening fixture of the 2024/25 season.
