Nigerian singer Buju, now known as BNXN, has apologied to his senior colleague, Davido, following a confrontation with a netizen on social media.
The exchange began when a user on the X platform, @lifeofolaa, commented that BNXN was “mid” (average) in response to a post about him.
The X user while reacting to a post about BNXN wrote, “He’s mid abeg.’
In a heated reply, BNXN, clearly agitated, dismissed the netizen’s right to comment on music matters, particularly as a fan of Davido.,
He wrote, “You be retard. Knowing your fave you no suppose dey speak on anything regarding music. Fem!” [sic].
The exchange escalated with BNXN using the slang “FEM,” a reference to Davido’s popular track, making it apparent who he was addressing.
As a consequence of this interaction, Davido took to the X platform to delete a tweet from April 2023 where he had announced a collaboration with BNXN on what he referred to as a “classic song.”
This move fueled speculation that the collaboration might not materialize.
Reacting to the deletion, a concerned fan, @Mbadeyforyou, lamented the potential loss of the anticipated collaboration.
@Mbadeyforyou wrote, “Omo Davido delete that tweet about him and Buju song. Chaii we are never getting that classic.”
In response, BNXN, defending his position, clarified that he had wrote the entire song and would release it when he deemed fit.
Buju wrote: “I’ll drop it. I wrote everything. Tf are you people stressing me out for? Defending my artiste??
“They’ll delete this tweet but I’ve said my own. Nobody can bully me. Fans always blowing shit outta proportion.”
Amidst the unfolding drama, Dremo Drizzy, an artist affiliated with Davido, criticized BNXN for handling the situation poorly, labeling his actions as disrespectful to Davido.
Dremo emphasized that BNXN, being aware of the potential consequences, deliberately chose a confrontational approach.
He wrote, “@BNXN that tweet was mad disrespectful bro, you can’t be tweeting like you don’t know fans will blowing shit out of proportion cos you clearly knew what you were doing , there are different ways to defend your artiste.”
In a surprising turn of events, BNXN eventually acknowledged his mistake and publicly apologized to Davido, stating, “No yawa. I am sorry.”
As of now, there has been no response from Davido to BNXN’s comment and apology.
