Photos have emerged showing what happened when President Bola Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo met in Imo State.
This was the first time the two politicians were publicly seen together since Tinubu’s inauguration. The occasion was the inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma for second term in Imo State, where both dignitaries were among the guests.
Their last public appearance together was during the election campaign when Tinubu sought Obasanjo’s support and visited his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State but he refused to support him. Instead, Obasanjo chose to endorse Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, over Tinubu, who ran on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
In subsequent visits to Abeokuta for campaign and a post-election thank-you trip, Tinubu avoided Obasanjo’s residence.
However, on this occasion, during Governor Uzodimma’s inauguration, both leaders exchanged pleasantries. They went ahead to have a warm handshake as Governor Uzodinma and the crowd watch them in surprise. Their friendly gestures marked a visible moment of reconciliation which was captured in pictures.
