Kogi State Police Command has arrested a yet to be identified woman who fled after pouring hot water on the body of a young girl in Lokoja.
A Twitter user identified as Jephthah Omo Bunu revealed that woman who happens to be girl’s guardian on Thursday poured a bucket of hot water on the child’s body, inflicting her with burns and injuries.
After the assault, the guardian took to her heels, but was apprehended by the police who had already begun a manhunt for her.
Residents said she deserved to be in police net as she had been abusing the little girl on several occasions.
In photos shared online, the girl is seen standing almost naked, her body covered in a white substance to ease the pain.
Sharing the photos, a Twitter user wrote: “This girl was poured Hot water by her aunt/guardian this morning in lokoja Kogi state. Very disheartening. Wen she hard the police were coming she ran away”
Seven hours later, the twitter user tweeted again, saying: “Thank you guys! The woman has been apprehended, shes in police detention right. Those who live around said she’s use to such abuse on the young girl.”
