Erstwhile Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje said Delta State’s premier status as home of sports is set to take a new dimension in the coming months under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

In an exclusive chat recently, Sodje stated that the governor is doing alot to develop sports in the state to ensure Delta continue its dominance in national festivals.

It would be recalled that the State successfully hosted the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship also known as Asaba 2018 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

And it is expected that the state will strive to sustain this momentum and break new grounds by hosting future competition.

The former Nott County FC defender said his vision is to come up with new ideas aimed at helping raw talents achieve their dreams and give back to the society at large.

“The governor’s passion for sport is second to none. My vision is to keep supporting the state and help nurture upcoming talents into stardom.

Sodje who is now into full blown construction equipment leasing company hopes to go into sports administration in the nearest future.

“I work closely with Delta State sports commission on grassroot development as I definitely look to go into sports administration even though I’ve done some of my coaching badges,” he said.
