The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will hold its inaugural sitting on Wednesday.
The Court of Appeal’s Media Officer, Sa’adatu Musa Kachalla said this in a statement on Tuesday.
Kachalla said, “The Presidential Elections Petition Panel will begin its inaugural session on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Abuja Division courtroom. Time is 9am.”
The PUNCH confirmed on Tuesday that the notice had been served on all the parties to the four pending presidential petitions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Others that were said to have been served through their lawyers included the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The Court of Appeal’s statement listed the four pending cases coming up on Wednesday to include the one marked CA/A/PEPC/001/2019 filed by Hope Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Chief Ambrose Awuru.
The three others are CA/PEPC/002/2019 filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku; CA/PEPC/003/2019 filed by Coalition for Change and its presidential candidate, Chizee Ojinika; and CA/A/PEPC/004/2019 filed by the Peoples Democratic Movement and its candidate, Pastor Aminchi Habu.
All the four petitions have Buhari, the APC and INEC as respondents.
The four petitions are challenging the victory of Buhari and the APC at the February 23 poll.
