Last year, Chocolate City signee, Blaqbonez released his fantastic LP, Bad Boy Blaqone of the multiple 2018 rap projects that was executive produced by M.I Abaga and the 10-track gem helped introduce the confident rapper to a wider audience.

Now, he’s back with a remix album – Bad Boy Blaq Re-Up – where he’s enlisted a bunch of gifted artists to help revamp some of the original project’s standout songs.

It’s clear why the perceptive M.I Abaga has taken Blaqbonez under his wings, as his talent is pretty undeniable. While the original album wasn’t the monster hit it totally deserved to be, we’re fully expecting this updated version to do much better, as it’s sonically richer.

Starting off with the cheeky “No Longer Stupid”, Blaqbonez sets the pace for the rest of the project. We can confidently assert that this LP has no skippable song, with the standouts being “Nikes” featuring Prettyboy D-O, “Good Boy” featuring BOJ & Ckay and the closer, “Bxtch”.

It’s very refreshing to see an up-and-coming Nigerian hip-hop artist delivering commercially viable songs without compromising his passion for the oft-ignored genre. If your hope in the Nigerian rap scene was beginning to dwindle, Blaqbonez is definitely here to revive it.
