The Ogun state government today in a series of tweet revealed the commissioning of a 100 bed isolation and treatment centre for Covid19 cases.
This is the states 5th isolation centre and the Government has assured that the facility will increase the state’s capacity to fight the pandemic.
The new centre is a donation from the Coalition Against Covid19 CACOVID and is located in Oke-Mosan of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Present at the event was the commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker who said that the State presently has over 300 beds in their isolation centres across the state which he described as a milestone in the response to Covid19.
“Coker recalled how the State which has the longest standing Emergency Operations Center ( EOC) in the country sprang into action to address the index case and prepare the four walls of the Gateway State in the event of any outbreak of Coronavirus.
“She said that the present administration which has strategically set up isolation and treatment centers in OOUTH, Sagamu, Ikenne and Iberekodo in Abeokuta for high risk and low risk cases respectively, said that the new facility will basically take care of low risk cases.” The Ogun state government tweeted.
The commissioner acknowledged the generosity of CACOVID and assured that the facility will be efficiently used.
Also in attendance of the event was the representative of the CACOVID Mr Ademola Bidesanmi stated that the pandemic was a global issue which needed the support of the private sector’s in collaboration with the Government.
Bidesanmi appreciated the Ogun state government for it approach in handling the covid19 outbreak in the state.
