At the start of the year, Wizkid took a three-month-long hiatus. Unfortunately for us, this means we are still yet to get an official single from the star, but thanks to a few guest spots, we’ve been able to enjoy silky his vocals — the latest being his appearance on DJ Tunez’s “Gbese”, alongside Blaqjerzee.
On “Gbese”, Wizkid admits that he would do crazy things for his baby girl, promising to buy her whatever she wants, even if it leaves him in debt. Wizkid’s performance on the track is outstanding, proving that his hiatus was a much-needed break, as he seems creatively revived.
The track is over five minutes long, and it includes a bubbly sample of Tic Tac and Tony Tetuila’s “Fefe N’efe”. After Wizkid’s few verses, the last minute and a half of “Gbese” hosts a lively instrumental break — it might be lengthy, but every second of this song is to be savoured.
