A newborn baby has died in hospital after his mother caught Covid-19, an inquest has heard.
Coolio Carl Justin Morgan’s mum tested positive for the virus before she gave birth.
He was born with a low heart rate at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, South Wales. He was then transferred to Singleton hospital in Swansea but died on May 5, the inquest heard.
The newborn, whose family live in nearby Maesteg, was just three days old. Coroner Graeme Hughes adjourned the inquest in Pontypridd to await full results of a post-mortem examination into the cause of his death.
A full hearing will be held later this year.
