KanyiDaily recalls that last month, Madagascar officially launched a local herbal remedy claimed to prevent and cure the novel coronavirus.
The herbal drink, which is called ‘Covid-Organics’ or CVO, is derived from artemisia – a plant with proven efficacy in malaria treatment – and other indigenous herbs.
President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina said that the drink is effective against the coronavirus as it strengthens the body’s immune system, adding several people have been cured with the treatment.
Speaking at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the Nigerian Government is making arrangements to pick up bottles of COVID-Organics, the herbal remedy, which would be subject to a validation.
“Madagascar has made allocations to various countries, and sent them to Guinea Bissau. We‘re supposed to make arrangements to freight Nigeria’s allocation from Guinea Bissau; it‘ll be subjected to the standard validation process for pharmaceuticals,” he said.
“Mr President has given instructions for the airlifting of Nigeria’s allocation of the Madagascar COVID-19 syrup; also given clear instructions that it must be subjected to the standard validation process for pharmaceuticals; there will be no exceptions for this.”
The monarch who had appealed to Nigeria to use natural methods on coronavirus, was reacting to Madagascar’s breakthrough in finding a herbal cure for the virus.
