Old Roy – Siegfried and Roy

Roy Horn, one half of the magician duo Siegfried and Roy, has died from coronavirus complications.

According to Metro UK, the 75-year-old legendary Las Vegas magician died at Mountain View Hospital.

Siegfried Fischbacher issued a statement reading: Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend. From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, and no Roy without Siegfried.

“Roy was a fighter his whole life, including during these final days. I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff at Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that ultimately took Roy’s life.
Horn had tested positive for coronavirus, on 28 April that but was ‘responding well to treatment’.

Horn and Fischbacher began their hugely popular Las Vegas show at the Mirage in 1990, where they performed elaborate tricks alongside animals, including their beloved tigers.

However, in October 2003, tragedy struck as 600lb Bengal tiger Mantecore attacked and mauled Horn during a live performance.

The attack severed his spine, caused severe blood loss critical injuries, leaving Horn partially paralysed.
