Mikhail Mishustin Russia’s prime minister: tests positive for coronavirus
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, just three months on the job, has tested positive for Coronavirus.
Mishustin reported himself to President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, via teleconferencing.
He is the second prime minister in Europe to contract the bug, after Boris Johnson of United Kingdom.
Mishustin suggested to Putin that First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov should serve as acting prime minister in his absence.
Putin supported his proposal.
Mishustin was Russia’s Tax Service chief before he was appointed in January as prime minister.
Russia has so far recorded 106,498 cases and 1,073 coronavirus-related deaths.
