Benue State Deputy governor Engr Benson Abounu said the first victim of COVID-19 in the state Mrs Susan Okpe has refused to be treated of the dreaded disease, The Nation reports.
Abounu also disclosed that the victim has dragged the federal and state governments to court after she was transferred to Abuja
Briefing journalist in Makurdi, Abounu, who doubles as chairman of Emergency committee on COVID-19 stated that apart from the case of Susan Okpe, there is no other case of coronavirus infection in the state.
The deputy governor said Benue government has procured 100, 000 face masks from Cross River State garment industry to be distributed free of charge.
On palliatives, he said the committee received three (3) trucks of rice from the Federal government and distributed it in the three (3) senatorial zones.
He said the COVID-19 emergency committee is working round the clock to ensure that they stop the spread of the virus in communities.
