Former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi has described legendary German defender Berti Vogts as the best Super Eagles foreign coach in the last 15 years, Completesports.com reports.
Amokachi made the claim during his radio programme titled ‘Bull’s Pit’ on Brila FM on Friday.
Vogts was appointed Eagles head coach on January 2007 and signed a four year contract.

However, following the Eagles’ poor showing at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana where the team lost 2-1 to the host in the quarter finals, Vogts resigned from his position in February the same year.
After his departure the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has gone on to appoint two foreign coaches.
Lars Lagerbäck of Sweden was appointed before the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where they crashed at the group stage while current coach Gernot Rohr for the job in 2016.
Despite his short spell with the Eagles, Amokachi rated Vogts the best among the foreign coaches in the last few years.
“For me the best foreign coach that has handled the Super Eagles in the last 15 years is Berti Vogts,” the 1994 AFCON winner said.
“He was a World Cup winner with Germany so for me he was the best foreign coach we’ve had this few years.”
Vogts was a member of the West German team that won the 1974 FIFA World Cup on home soil.
Prior to the World Cup win, he helped West Germany win the 1972 European Championship.
After taking over succeeding Franz Beckenbauer as Germany’s head coach In 1990, he led the team to a runners up spot at the 1992 Euros, where they were shocked 2-0 By Denmark in the final.
At the 1994 World Cup in the United States, Vogts German side lost their title as world champions, following their 2-1 defeat to minnows Bulgaria.
Vogts eventually won his first title as Germany’s head coach as they were crowned European champions at the 1996 edition hosted in England.
His last assignment with the team was at the 1998 World Cup in France where they got eliminated in the quarter-final, no thanks to a 3-0 defeat to debutant Croatia.
Other teams he handled include Bayer Leverkusen, Scotland and Azerbaijan.
