An ex-soldier, identified as Mr Danie Efe, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for being a member of a syndicate that specialises in car theft in the state.

The acting Police PRO in the state, ASP Chuks Orisewezie, who stated this on Thursday at the police headquarters Asaba, said 32-year-old Efe, a native of Agbarho in the Ughelli South area of the state, was intercepted with one Toyota Corolla car with a fake number plate, PBT 214 AA, along the Sapele-Benin Road by the Safer Highway Patrol team.
“After preliminary investigation, the suspect and the exhibit were transferred to the State Intelligence and Investigation Department, Asaba, where a thorough investigation was conducted and the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted to being a member of the syndicate,” Orisewezie stated.

On Monday, another syndicate was also intercepted on the same route with a Toyota Corolla carrying a fake number plate, KMK 129 AE, driven by one Julius Osagba, a native of Mosogar in the Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.

The Police PRO said the suspects would soon be charged to court and warned criminals to stay away from the state or be ready to face the full weight of the law.
