Popular comedian, Ayo Makun, also known as AY, on Thursday begged Nigerians on Twitter for forgiveness over his message of support to Funke Akindele.

Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband were called out on Twitter, Sunday, for holding a party in their Lagos home during the ongoing lockdown.

The couple was punished by Chief Magistrate Yewande Aje-Afunwa on Monday.

However, in a tweet on Wednesday, AY asked TwitterNG to apply same energy used in calling out Funke Akindele for the “oppressors in Government”.

The comedian had tweeted that “Yes! Nobody is above the law. But I wish those of you who called out @funkeakindele can do same with your countless oppressors in government.

“Even when the sky is filled with clouds the sun still shines above. Funke will rise again .#LESSONSLEARNT”.

This obviously didn’t go down well with some of his followers on Twitter. He was subjected to heavy criticism to the extent that he came back on Twitter to beg for forgiveness.

“TWITTERIANS ABEG NA! SINCE YESTERDAY MY CHEST HAS BEEN PAINING ME WITH NO APPETITE 4 FOOD. THE INSULTS ARE TOO MUCH. CAN YOU ALL JUST REDUCE MY SENTENCE TO JOINING @funkeakindele FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE AND SELF ISOLATION FROM TWITTER FOR 14 DAYS? I AM SORRY. UNA PITY PERSON PAPA NA,” AY wrote on Thursday.
