No fewer than 43 serving Ministers have donated 50% of their March 2020 salaries to support the Federal Government’s efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
Mohammed said Gbemisola Saraki, minister of state for transportation, coordinated the donation which was meant as a gesture to support the federal government’s effort in mitigating the spread of the virus.
“This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another.
“This will facilitate an early resolution of the problem,” the minister of state for transportation was quoted as saying.
Mohammed said the ministers also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
