After releasing four monster hits in 2017, Davido spent most of 2018 collaborating with other artists, from Peruzzi to CDQ. This year it seems he has retained his generosity when it comes to features, his latest appearance being on Pasuma’s new single, “Amen”.
“Amen” is an exultant and prayerful single that brings together two stars from drastically different worlds. Rexxie produced the highlife beat, upon which the fuji legend reminds us of his rap prowess — his distinctive vocals hitting us with a wave of nostalgia.
Sampling “emi na re”, “Amen” is an incredibly catchy tune which greatly benefits from Pasuma’s raspy tone, especially on the solid chorus. Davido then kicks off his verse by flaunting his rather solid Yoruba skills.
On Pasuma’s verse, he acknowledges that the pairing is a rather strange one, but with very solid performances from both gifted acts, we wouldn’t be surprised to see lot more fuji and afropop collaborations in the future.
