Baby
A 26-year-old female identified as Chinazaekpere Uwadineke has been arrested by the police after she allegedly killed a six months old baby of her ex-lover.
The sad incident was reported at the Abia State Police Command in Umuahia.
According to TheNation, it was gathered that Uwadineke said that her fiancé never told her he was married. This is even as she was reported to have claimed that she had a series of abortion for her ex-lover.
It was gathered that Uwadineke could have decided to take to such action as a result of jealousy or having the feeling that she has been used and dumped by the ex-lover.
According to a source in Abia State Police Command, the command after receiving a tip-off about the incident immediately swung to action.
“A report was made that a six months old baby was missing and on investigation, it was discovered that the baby’s body was found dead in a gutter.
“It was made known to us that the culprit visited the compound of the deceased and found out that the mother left the child in the care of other older children.
“She went ahead to deceive the babysitter that the mother asked her to bring the child. The babysitter innocently handed the baby to her and along the line, we do not know what she did to the baby but the child was found dead in a gutter. We arrested the culprit and took the child away.”
She later confessed that she is a friend to the father of the deceased whom she claimed to be dating but never knew that the man was married with children.
“Out of provocation, she had to find a means of getting the child killed. Right now she is undergoing investigation and the dead child is in the morgue.
“She also claimed that she has had a series of abortion for the married boyfriend who never revealed his true marital status to her.”
In a telephone interview, the State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon told our reporter that the woman was arrested and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for continued investigation.
Okon told our reporter that the woman would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter was concluded.
