“Uncle Police removed my pants, and put his stick inside my bumbum,” a two-year-old girl defiled by a director managed to tell her mother relaying the sad story before a court March 6.
The mother had been worried about the girl’s painful unrination and reddish private part after leaving the director’s office in Owerri on Feb. 5.
Chinoye Obia, in tears, would later ask Ikenna Unegbu, the Imo National Identity Management Commission director, a touching question.
“I called Oga Ikenna (suspect) to ask what he did with my daughter, and he harshly denied knowledge of the incident,” Chinoye, a photographer, said before a magistrate court where Unegbu was arraigned in Owerri March 6.
The next day, she took her baby to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri and Police Hospital to carry tests on her daughter.
The doctors confirmed through medical reports that the little girl’s hymen was broken.
It all began when the Unegbu had taken the child, crying, from her mother who shouted at the girl for pouring water around the office.
“My daughter went into the office twice with biscuits and groundnuts, only to come out from the Director’s office the third time, crying,” she told the court.
Ikenna did not only violated the girl, he attempted to clean up the trces of sperm and blood as flakes of tissue paper around the girl’s bottom confirmed
The magistrate, Mrs Odionyenma, then ruled that the suspect be granted bail for re-arraignment on March 19, 2020.
In the meantime, evidence would be properly studied to ensure justice was served.
According to the judge, that the constitution gives protection to both the complainant and the accused.
