The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus has addressed the constant complain by Nigerians about some police officers who harrass them on the road and forcefully look through their mobile phones.

In a recent video interview, Badmus said no police officer has the right to go through somebody’s phone for no special reason.

According to her, police officers are only allowed to search phones when they have a reasonable ground to suspect a person. She said:

“Your phone is private, it’s your private property because people do alot of private stuffs on their mobile phones so it’s wrong.

“Police officers have no right to do that except there is a reasonable ground to do so.”
