
A Nigerian woman was questioned after nearly 40,000 cigarettes were discovered in her check-in luggage at Dublin Airport.
Revenue officers seized the 39,000 unstamped cigarettes when a passenger’s luggage was stopped and searched after her arrival off a flight from Abuja, Nigeria.
The Benson & Hedges branded cigarettes had an estimated retail value of approximately €24,900 and represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €16,600, Dublin Live reports.
The woman who is in her 40s was interviewed in relation to the seizure and investigations are ongoing.
