Canadian rapper, Drake has hit back at his father, Dennis Graham, for claiming his rap lyrics were made up to sell more records.

The 32-year-old Canadian rapper has often used his parents’ divorce in his music, recalling how they broke up when he was a child and his father’s alleged troubles with alcohol.

However, during an interview on Power 106, his father shot down claims that he was an absentee father. Despite his son’s lyrics to the contrary, Graham says he has always been present in his son’s life and that Drake embellished their relationship to sell more records.

“I had a conversation with Drake about that. I have always been with Drake. I talk to him if not every day, then every other day.

“We really got into a deep conversation about that. I said, ‘Drake, why are you saying all of this different stuff about me? This is not cool.’ He (said), ‘Dad, it sells records.’ OK, well, cool.”

In reaction, Drake took to his Instagram page and responded to claims that he lied about their relationship. Saying he is “so hurt” by his father’s claims, the rapper insisted that his lyrics are based on truth. He wrote:

“Woke up today so hurt, man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him.

“It’s sad when family gets like this, but what can we really do? That’s the people we are stuck with. Every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”

Meanwhile, Drake has promised to help fulfill the dream of a Nigerian die-hard fan of his, with a promise to fly him out to one of his shows.

The young Nigerian guy in question is David Jagun, an undergraduate of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ogun state.
