According to outlets in the UK, Beckham and his family made a well-documented trip to Miami not only to take a break and enjoy some of the region’s outrageous offshore fishing, but also to take a look at a staggeringly expensive penthouse apartment that, if the reports are to be believed, will become the Beckham’s main US base of operations as David begins his journey as the part-owner of a football club.
The building, which was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is set to become one of the tallest residential towers in the world, soaring over 200m above the Miami skyline. It’s known as One Thousand Museum officially, but also has the unofficial name ‘Scorpion Tower’. Since commencing construction, the 87 pieces of real estate have become some of the most sought-after properties in the city.
Beckham’s reported two-storey penthouse will sit atop the architectural marvel, making him one of just 100 tenants spread across 62 very luxurious floors. Just above him will, of course, be a helipad.
Common facilities in the block are designed to afford the residents the same lifestyle as if they were staying inside a seven-star hotel. This includes a stunning infinity pool and bar, a full two-room treatment spa, a hair and beauty salon, acai and juice bar fuelled by Raw Republic, and a sunbathing area. The building also boasts a media centre and a sky lounge for events, while a custom air conditioning system feeds four different scents into different parts of the building.
Different outlets have actually dubbed Beckham’s reported pad as the most expensive apartment in the world, but this isn’t even close to true. At over $50 million it’s still eye-wateringly pricey, but that particular title belongs to an apartment in London’s One Hyde Park development that sold for nearly $240 million last year. Still, we doubt he’s complaining.
