The Kaduna State Police Command says it rescued two of the six persons kidnapped by gunmen in military uniform along the Kaduna-Abuja road on Sunday evening.
The command explained that its officers engaged the criminals and rescued two of the six persons kidnapped.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Yakubu Sabo in a statement said the command received a distress call that armed men in military uniform intercepted a commercial bus with registration number ABJ 905 XC at a point near Rijana Village along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway and took away six persons into the bush.
The statement said the patrol teams within the axis were quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums, stressing that they rescued one 17-year-old Rofiat Tijjani and another person both of Tudun Wada, Kaduna from the criminals who were about to escape. Both victims were taken to a police station.
The PPRO stated that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining four victims and arrest the criminals, promising to update the public on the ongoing operation.
The chairman, Yoruba Traditional Council of Obas and Chiefs in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, Ambassador Muhammad Arigbabuwo, called for the release of the affected victims kidnapped on Sunday.
Speaking with journalists in Kaduna, he appealed to their abductors to free them as they are people in search of means of their survival.
He also enjoined the government to improve on the welfare packages of all security agents, especially those on the frontlines.
