Gunmen on Sunday attacked Ikirike Police Station of Enugu Command of the Nigerian Police Force.
It was gathered that the hoodlums came to the station with the pretence that they came to report distress and immediately launched attack on the station.
At the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether any policeman was killed.
It was also not clearly ascertained whether the station’s armory was looted.
Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the attack to The PUNCH in a telephone conversation.
Though he could not give details of the attack, he told our Correspondent that the hoodlums came to the station, pretending to be in distress and then “launched the attack.”
On whether there was fatality, Amaraizu said, “No policeman was killed.”
He said the Command has launched a manhunt for the hoodlums.
