Youths in the southeast have warned Igbo leaders that “the message and warning signal from Germany has been passed unto them, declaring that soon beating of political leaders and state actors will start in the zone.
The Igbo youths agitated that the beating given to former Deputy Senate Ike Ekweremadu in Germany by their brothers in diaspora was a wake up call on the youths at home to descend on the political and state actors from the south east who have not contributed to the development of the zone and their people.
Though, some of the youths expressed sympathy and respect for Ike Ekweremadu for falling victim of the beating in Germany, they warned that all Igbo political and state actors must show commitment to better governance and development of the south east. The youths, accordingly, warned Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State, Joe Igbokwe, All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, among others.
One of the youths had in his warning declared: “Obiano keep worsening the eight years given to you by APGA; we are watching and waiting for your airport.”
Another youth had declared: “I have so much respect for you, sir, but you guys should sit up…How I wish it is the Governor of Ebonyi State that was the victim….Orji Uzor Kalu, Rochas and Joe Igbokwe, their turns are loading…”
These were the expressions of despondency from the south east.
Ekweremadu suffered a mob attack in Germany last weekend when he went on invitation to deliver a speech to an Igbo community on a new yam feast. He was assaulted before he was rescued and taken to a safe place before his return to Nigeria.
