For a club as big as Manchester United with so much history and a lot of trophies won, the club fans have been spoilt for these good number of years. They do not hesitate to turn on the pressure on the board, management and players at the slightest opportunity.

The Red Devils endured difficult times in the 2018/19 season. They finished the season without a trophy to show for it yet again. This has prompted a mission of restoring the club back to where it rightfully belongs. The club has charged Ole gunnar Solskjaer with this daunting task of rebuilding. After a humiliating 4-0 defeat to the Toffees, he promised to turn the club fortunes around. He made his frustrations known immediately after the game. The boss stated that he would be successful at the club and some players wouldn’t be part of it.

The Norwegian boss has times without number laid emphasis on how he wants his united side to play with fearlessness and energy. He believes that when quality meet these other attributes, the results will be there for all to see. This is why he has resorted to injecting youthfulness into the team. He has demonstrated this during his short time at the club.

The 2019/20 season begins in eight days and yet he still retains nearly same team which he ended the previous season with. Aaron Wan Bissaka, 21 years old and Daniel James, 22 years old have joined the team. They cost the club a combined fee of £65 million. The former is most definitely going to slot in at the right back position while the latter is one for the future.

Some academy graduates Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and James Garner seized the opportunity given to them at pre-season to impress the boss. Up until the 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspurs at the International Champions Cup, these boys had played a major role in the clubs 100 percent record in the first four pre-season games. Every one of them had either scored or assisted in those games. These are obvious signs that they are ready to step up to the first team in the upcoming season.

There have been a lot of positives to take from the pre-season games. These players are looking recharged and eager to get into the new season. But there are still fears that the Club’s Chief Executive, Ed Woodward has failed to address some problem areas as identified by Ole and his coaching team. There are growing concerns amongst the club fans that they are heading into the new season with nearly same team as the last.

The English transfer window will close at 17:00 BST on Thursday 8 August 2019. Speculations have intensified. So many players have been linked to Manchester United over the summer. But it appears to be that there might be just one or two new faces before the window shuts as stated by Ole after their 1-0 victory against Kristiansund. Sky Sports are reporting Manchester United have made a new £80m bid for Harry Maguire – will it be accepted? It has also been reported that Paulo Dybala’s Agent has arrived for talks as Romelu Lukaku swap deal gathers pace. Also according to Mirror, Man Utd have ‘agreement in principle’ with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes.

It has been observed that the club is finding it difficult to offload some players considered as surplus. This is a necessary requirement to balance the clubs account book. They would also have an eye on the FFP rules. It is also increasingly looking like the club will retain the services of want away midfielder, Paul Pogba. No doubt that Ed woodward is under tremendous pressure as the transfer windows draws to a close. Should he manage to get these rumored deals across the line, this could arguably be the best crop of players the club would have had at their disposal post-Fergurson’s Era. This in addition to the successful pre-season outing and the so much anticipated introduction of youth players into the first team will usher in exciting times. This places the club in pole position to start challenging for trophies again.
