Listen To Ruggedman’s Fiery New Single, “Eruku (Smoke)”

For most of the noughties, Ruggedman was at the forefront of the Nigerian hip-hop movement, but as tastes evolved, his star dwindled. Through the years, however, the rap veteran has still been releasing some pretty solid tunes, his latest effort being the vibrant “Eruku (Smoke)”.

Produced by Shocker Beatz, Eruku (Smoke)” begins with Ruggedman asking listeners if we are okay, reassuring us that whatever problems we are facing, we will rise. While it isn’t what we are used to hearing from the rap OG, he still manages to impress on the afropop-infused beat. 

On the first verse, Ruggedman is confident in his skills, even boasting about the success of his music, before he begins bragging on the chorus. Then for the second verse, he reverts to Yoruba, firing out witty lines, including one that features the Game of Thrones character, Daenerys Targaryen.
