Wilfried Zaha
Arsenal on Monday bid £40million for Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, Sky Sports News reports.
Zaha has informed the club of his desire and urged them to reach an agreement with the Gunners who he supported as a boy.
Palace have already struck a deal worth over £50million with Manchester United for the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
And the South London side already insisted that only one of their academy products would be allowed to leave.
But Zaha remains determined to secure his own big-money switch from Selhurst Park too.
Palace have put a huge £80m price tag on the 26-year-old, which would put him out of Arsenal’s price range. The Gunners have a starting budget of around £45m, following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
That has left Zaha hoping that Palace chairman, Steve Parish, will lower the club’s demands to make his dream switch a reality.
In other news, Porto striker, Yacine Brahimi, is close to completing a long-awaited move to Arsenal.
The forward, who is currently on national duty with Algeria, will join the Gunners when his country’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign comes to an end.
He will be in Arsenal on a free transfer having left Porto at the expiration of his contract, according A Bola.
The Algerian winger failed to agree new terms with the Portuguese outfit and has been linked with a number of teams across Europe.
Other clubs such as Manchester United Everton and Wolves have all indicated interests in the 29-year-old.
He however, decided to join Arsenal.
The Gunners also beat off competition from Turkey’s big three clubs, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas, who saw their proposals rejected by Brahimi.
The newspaper reports that Arsenal will pay Brahimi around £3.5million as a signing-on bonus.
The announcement of his move to the Emirates is expected to be made when Algeria have finished participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Brahimi scored 13 goals for Porto last season and created nine more in 49 matches across all competitions.
