The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has produced an executive of Binance Holdings Limited in court.
Tigran Gambaryan, an official of Binance Holdings Limited, is facing charges of tax evasion, along with Nadeem Anjarwalla who is currently at large. They are expected to appear in court today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In a lawsuit designated FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024, Binance is accused of failing to register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and pay the necessary taxes. The FIRS alleges that despite providing taxable services to subscribers on its trading platform, Binance neglected to issue invoices for tax assessment and payment of value-added taxes.
Gambaryan was escorted to court by heavily armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and stands as the second defendant in the case.
Proceedings are ongoing at the time of this report.
