President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
Present at the meeting are Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Notably absent are the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam and others.
During the previous council meeting held two weeks ago, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed President Tinubu’s stance on the safe return of kidnapped school students and other individuals abducted in Borno, Kaduna, and Sokoto states. He emphasized that no ransom payments would be made for any of the victims.
Furthermore, the Minister disclosed that the government was assessing the security support offer extended by the United States and other nations. He indicated that the government’s position on these proposals would be announced shortly.
