A man named Stephen Moses has voiced his distress after learning from paternity tests that he is not the biological father of his two-year-old son (names withheld).

Expressing his shock on the popular television program, The Justice Court, Moses disclosed that the revelation came as a profound blow, particularly as his supposed child has a sickle cell genotype, while both he and his wife have different genotypes.

In a series of tweets on his X handle on Monday, Moses recounted the timeline of events leading up to the revelation. He wrote, “I am still in awe of how we got here. We got married precisely May 21, 2016. A year down the line she got pregnant and gave birth on her birthday November 8, 2018. The first crisis the baby had, we spent thousands in hospital and that’s when we first discovered he was SS.”

Continuing, he stated, “At this point, I was confused. She first told me it was the enemy that was doing us through the boy. I didn’t believe and at the same time, I didn’t argue with her.”

Moses highlighted his attempt to seek clarity on the child’s paternity following several health challenges the child faced. He explained that two separate tests confirmed his non-paternity, leading to a court session where the results were revealed.

Before the paternity test results were known, Moses faced allegations from his in-laws regarding neglect of the child, which changed once the test results came out negative, causing his wife to become unreachable as she went into isolation.

Despite his efforts to resolve the matter, Moses indicated that his wife remained unresponsive, even in the face of mounting evidence. He also countered the possibility of a birth swap, considering he was present during the child’s birth at Ojodu Health Centre.

In response, his wife acknowledged the truth of Moses’ account but disputed the test results, questioning why he did not discuss the matter with her before conducting the DNA test.

She said, “All that is said is true but when we were first diagnosed, why couldn’t he tell me that we should go for DNA? And meanwhile, he didn’t even come out straight that he wanted to do a DNA test.”

When questioned about the child’s paternity, she maintained, “Nobody touched me. I’m very sure.”
