President Bola Tinubu has strongly denounced the recent abductions in Borno and Kaduna states, issuing urgent directives to security and intelligence agencies to launch immediate rescue operations for the victims.
In Borno State, on Thursday, February 29, approximately 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs), including women, boys, and girls, were reportedly abducted by suspected terrorists while gathering firewood in Gomboru-Ngala and Dikwa council areas. Similarly, in Kaduna State, armed bandits stormed a school premises in Kuriga, Chikun council area, kidnapping around 287 pupils and teachers.
In response to these distressing incidents, President Tinubu, as conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, expressed his condemnation and assured swift action to rescue the victims.
“The President condemns the heinous incidents of abduction, involving very vulnerable victims: internally displaced persons in Borno State, and students in Kaduna State,” the statement read.
Tinubu’s directive emphasized the immediate rescue of the victims and the pursuit of justice against the perpetrators. He extended sympathies to the families affected, assuring them of imminent reunions with their loved ones.
“I have received briefing from security chiefs on the two incidents, and I am confident that the victims will be rescued. Nothing else is acceptable to me and the waiting family members of these abducted citizens. Justice will be decisively administered,” Tinubu affirmed.
