Social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has voiced suspicions regarding the intentions of President Bola Tinubu’s administration regarding the alleged lifting of the visa ban on Nigeria by the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
Yesufu’s statement follows recent reports suggesting that the UAE had rescinded the visa ban on Nigerians. However, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, refuted these claims, asserting that the ban remains in effect.
Expressing her skepticism, Yesufu took to her X handle on Wednesday, asserting, “Tinubu’s illegitimate government wants to fake it until they make it!”
The UAE had initially imposed the visa ban on Nigerians and citizens of 19 other African nations in October 2022, prompting travel agents and trade partners to reject visa applications from these countries.
