Two laborers have reportedly died tragically in separate bomb explosions at construction sites in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the first bomb blast occurred at Koibe Primary School in the state.

An intelligence source reportedly told the publication that the first blast occurred when a labourer transporting bricks to a section of the school under construction, ignorantly conveyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The source said the second IED exploded and killed another construction worker at a different site on the outskirts of Koibe.

The publication said five persons sustained injuries during the bomb blast.

In January, an IED mistaken for metal scrap, killed six children in an Islamic school in Gubio LGA of Borno.

In 2023, Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, banned the activities of scrap metal collectors in all LGAs for “causing deaths of many residents” of the state.

In another development, troops of Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai, in Miringa area of Borno, reportedly killed one ISWAP terrorist.

The publication said the troops killed the terrorist when it repelled an attack on military personnel, adding that one PKT gun was recovered from the insurgents.

“It was gathered that at about 240010hourz Feb 24, the combined troops of 231 and 331 deployed at Command Science Girls Secondary School in Biu LGA in Borno state, came under attack by the terrorists who came on motorcycles,”
the publication added.
