The Lagos State Police Command on Monday rolled out security tips for the safety of residents of Lagos State.
The document signed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, also provided telephone numbers to the public for emergency calls, as well as complaints against Police actions on the street at any time.

The security tips include:
* Avoid talking about large sums of money and transactions while in public.
* Except where absolutely necessary, avoid carrying ATM cards, expensive phones and devices in public or crowded places.
* Always arm yourself with relevant emergency numbers including that of your nearest DPO.
* When shopping online:
Beware of adverts on sites and forums that sound too good to be true. Ensure such sites are safe and veritable.
Avoid shopping from vendors whose physical offices you do not know and refrain from sending money to unverified online sellers unless through authorized websites or applications.
* Ensure you enable 2-factor authentication on all your social media accounts.
Avoid illegal sites as well as clicking on suspicious links.
Use strong passwords and make sure nobody has access to them.
* Be mindful of what you post about yourself on social media.
Avoid posting your place of employment, worship or popular landmarks that can be used to locate your home.
* Ensure that your residence, environment and streets are properly illuminated at all times.
* While driving or in traffic, make sure your car doors are locked and windows totally wound up and if no AC, windows should be half wound.
* Ensure to thoroughly profile and vet domestic staff before hiring them.
* Before driving into your compound, ensure there are no strange faces around to avoid kidnappers following you into your home.
