DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, has issued a reminder to residents of the state regarding the ban on the use of fireworks.
In a post shared on his X handle, Edafe said Nigerians should ensure they obey the ban so as not to spend their crossover into the new year inside a cell.
He wrote: ‘’Today is New Year’s Eve, and youths are likely to get carried away throwing knockouts and other fireworks. Lets be reminded that It’s banned especially in Delta and you could get arrested for this.
“For avoidance of doubt, armed robbers, and kidnappers can take advantage of guys throwing knockouts and use their guns to terrorize residents without being detected hence the need to ban it. It’s for our good.
“Our men have been directed to enforce this ban. No go do cross over night inside cell o. For those asking for giveaway, this is my own giveaway.”
