During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor said he was taken aback upon learning about the broken marriages of his female colleagues, Ireti Doyle, Tonto Dikeh, and Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha.
Pete Edochie passionately emphasized the importance of understanding marriage as a sacred and unwavering commitment, meant to endure both good and challenging times.
“If you come to our Industry today, most of our ladies who got married 2- 3 years ago have all left their husbands, I was shocked that Chioma Chukwuka had left her husband, Ireti Doyle, Tonto Dikeh.
“You take a vow when you are going to get married for better or worst, not for better or out. You will always think it’s greener on the other side, that is the mistake we all make,” he said.
Pete Edochie also expressed genuine affection for actress Genevieve Nnaji, who portrayed his daughters on the silver screen, stressing that he deeply admires her as a daughter figure.
Though he hasn’t been in touch with Genevieve recently, the actor revealed that he heard rumors about the actress facing some mental challenges, stressing that he hopes to reconnect with her and offer his support and fatherly care if needed.
“Of all the girls who had played my daughter in films, somehow it is Genevieve Nnaji I love most, I look at her as my daughter and she also sees me as a father, she is an exceptionally brilliant lady.
I have not heard of her lately ever since I heard she is a little disturbed mentally, I don’t know whether it is true or false, I hope that one day she calls me and say I am ok,” he said.
