Ifeoma Chukwuogo is one of the most exciting Nigerian filmmakers working today, and you don’t need to take our word for it, just take a look at her moving short film, Bariga Sugar – which premiered at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) last year.
Bariga Sugar was also her first short film out of film school. On the heels of the success of that short film, Ifeoma is set to release her next project, under her own banner, Fizzy K Pictures: a Nigerian crime-drama mini-series titled Under.

Under follows Gift (Omozele Gabriel), a naive young woman down on her luck. She works as a domestic help but hopes for more. An accidental murder she commits in self-defense leads her to cross paths with Nonso (Tope Tedela), a mid-level member of a kidnapping syndicate.
Under will explore themes of survival, morality, friendship and love, and if the trailer is to believed, the show will be propped up by quality writing and strong performances. The premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s already our most anticipated Nigerian show of the year.
