Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun and the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists have sent condolence messages to the family of late publisher of News Direct newspaper, Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi who died on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Who was also the presiding minister of Great Grace Apostolic Church, Gasline, Sango- Ota in Ogun state died on Tuesday at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan-Remo after a brief illness.
He was aged 56.
In a statement signed by both Lagos NUJ chairman, Adeleye Ajayi and its chairman, Tunde Olalere, the body described the death of Ibiyemi as a shock to all the union members.

“His contributions to the economic and political developments of the country are commendable. He was both an economic journalist and a politician.
“The NUJ prays that God will grant his soul eternal rest and grant his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the big loss.
In another statement, Gov. Dapo Abiodun described the late publisher as a thoroughbred journalist, a servant of God who has contributed to the expansion of the socio-economic development of the nation.
“He was no doubt a colossus of some sort who bestrode the media world during his lifetime.
