South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, has been shot dead.

South African Rapper, AKA Shot Dead In Drive-By Shooting On His Birthday

According to reports on social media, AKA was supposed to perform at an event for his birthday on Friday night when the assailants struck.

AKA’s close friend was also shot dead while his bodyguard was wounded.

According to multiple witnesses, AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting. Two unknown cars were spotted and the occupants were believed to be the persons that shot the rapper. The scene has since been sealed off.

The rapper posted pictures and videos of himself at a restaurant a few minutes before the incident. He tagged his location in one of the pictures and also announced the release of his new album coming up on the 27th of February.
